Donna Karan defends Harvey Weinstein by suggesting women are ‘asking for it’

(JTA) — Fashion designer Donna Karan said comments defending Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, suggesting that women who dress provocatively are “asking for it,” do not represent how she feels about the situation.

Meanwhile, other female celebrity friends of Weinstein, Meryl Streep and Judi Dench, condemned the film producer over a series of recent sexual harassment allegations against him.

Jerry Seinfeld calls Trump a ‘water-gun clown’

(JTA) — Jerry Seinfeld called President Donald Trump a “water gun clown” and said the president’s “happy face” is terrifying.

The Jewish comedian made the critical comments in an interview Friday with New Yorker editor David Remnick at the New Yorker Festival.

“Trump’s happy face — that’s the scariest face of all time,” Seinfeld said, attributing the observation to fellow comic Colin Quinn, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “He’s kind of a water gun clown.”

Israeli hospital gets grant to help Syrian refugee kids with hearing loss

(JTA) — An Israeli philanthropist has made a six-figure grant to a hospital in northern Israel to fund treatment for Syrian children who have suffered hearing loss as a result of their country’s civil war.

Morris Kahn’s pilot grant to Ziv Medical Center in Safed is part of the Genesis Prize Foundation’s global initiative to aid refugee causes and encourage other Jewish foundations and philanthropists to do the same.…

Al Jazeera planted undercover reporter in US pro-Israel groups

(JTA) — An Al Jazeera editor acknowledged planting an undercover reporter inside pro-Israel organizations last year in Washington, D.C.

Clayton Swisher, the Qatar-owned news network’s head of investigative reporting, made the revelation Monday in an interview on Al Jazeera’s main Arabic channel. He said a documentary will be aired based on the reporter’s work.
