(JTA) — Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis may wear a cross around his neck, but his dugout home-run celebrations are purely Jewish.
Kipnis scored a solo home run Monday against the Minnesota Twins in the Tribe’s 10-0 victory. His teammates greeted him by lifting him off the ground and chanting “Hey, hey, hey!” In a post-game interview with Sportstime Ohio, he called the unusual dugout celebration his “Hava Nagila” chair.
“My chair! My Hava Nagila chair baby! I had two open arms waiting for me and I was like, oh you guys remembered,” Kipnis said.
